S. S. Gill,a career civil servant, retired as Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in 1985. The same year he was awarded the Padma Bhushan. From 1997 to 1998 he served as the first CEO of Prasar Bharati.Since his retirement he has been regularly contributing articles to leading national dailies and magazines. He has also written three books: The Dynasty — A Political Biography of the Premier Ruling Family of Modern India; The Pathology of Corruption, and Gandhi — A Sublime Failure. These books have not only made it to the bestseller lists, but have also been translated into several Indian languges.
