Thomas Mann (1875) - German novelist and critic received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1929. His works include Der Zauberberg (1924), Lotte in Weimar (1939), Doktor Faustus (1947). Being forced to go on exile after Hitler assumed power, Mann became a US citzen in 1994. In this work Mann potrays Schopenhauer along with his unique philosophy, skillfully examining the inherent meanings of his gloomy and pessimistic views.
