A charming assemblage, it captures the unique flavour of the region—both its old world charm and the newer characteristics that now define parts of it. Most of the contributors to this volume have lived in the valley long enough to witness the changes that have taken place. There is nostalgia here, and history too, and the social change.Eminent autors and personalities like Karan Thapar, Victor Banerjee, Bill Aitken, I.Allan Sealy, Nayantara Sahgal, Ramchandra Guha besides a host of others have contributed to it and the richness and diversity of the Doon is captured in these personal stories and vignettes, with a variety of views and viewpoints. From the scenic beauty of the place and its laidback lifestyle to its renowned educational institutions, this collection gives a comprehensive picture of the Valley, told from the heart by those who have lived in it and loved it. Edited by none other than Ruskin Bond, this book is of interest to one who has journeyed through the valley and explored it. It is doubly so for those who have lived in it.
