Leon Trotsky (1879) belonged to a Marxist group. After Lenin's death in 1924, Stalin and Trotsky were the two most powerful men in Russia. Their struggle for power ended with Trotsky being imprisoned and then exiled from Russia in 1929. Trotsky believed in world revolution, and was an uncompromising, if liberal, idealist.
